1 George Lane, St Kilda
This 56 minute documentary, by journalist and documentary maker, Marianne Latham, is the story of how avarice, arrogance and ignorance destroyed the beautiful seaside paradise of St Kilda.
"Once home to the richest, most influential and powerful people in Australia, St Kilda became a depraved, destitute slum when abandoned by the Posh. Yet, it was the Riff Raff who turned St Kilda into a vibrant, multicultural creative hub. However now, the Posh are back and the Riff Raff are worried."
The documentary features new film of St Kilda, as well as archival footage, historical photos and interviews with historians, residents, activists, social workers, artists, musicians, writers and St Kilda’s passionate fringe dwellers.
Please join us for its premiere viewing. This is a free event. Food and drinks can be bought at the bar.
The Posh and the Riff Raff documentary is funded through the City of Port Phillip Cultural Development Fund and private funding, with support from the St KiIda Historical Society.
