Named after Major-General Frederick Holt Robe CB (1801 – 4 April 1871) who was the fourth Governor of South Australia, from 25 October 1845 to 2 August 1848.
An early Victorian hotel and residence converted into apartments in the 1920s. The building is important as a
survivor from early times and provides a clue to the character of the street in the ninteenth century
Probably constructed in 1858 to the designs of Crouch & Wilson architects. Later owned by Henry (Money) Miller.
Rearing up in the middle of the otherwise low scale suburban #RobeStreetStKilda is this idiosyncratic pile.
