History Built for Emil Thoneman and his family in 1868. Thoneman, of Lange and Thoneman, held the position of Austrian Consul for two years at the end of his life. After he died, his widow remained in the house until at least 1885. The property’s site was subdivided in the 1920s with the formation of Wimbledon Avenue, and the house itself was demolished in the early 1970s. There is now a block of apartments in its place.
