The National Theatre was built in 1921 in the Beaux Arts style as a 3,000-seat cinema – Victory Theatre.
Since 1974 it has been the home of the National Ballet School and the National Drama School, when the original cinema stalls area was converted to studio and rehearsal rooms and the dress circle into a 783-seat live venue with the addition of a stage.

The Society proudly brings internationally acclaimed Australian playwright, Suzie Miller, home to St Kilda for an evening of fabulous recollections and insights.
In conversation with local journalist and filmmaker, Marianne Latham, Suzie will talk about her glittering career and the joys and challenges of growing up in St Kilda. Her mother, Elaine Miller, famously became the first woman mayor on St Kilda Council in 1982.
