At this live stream presentation – a joint event with the Glen Eira Historical Society – Professor Ian Clark will share his research into the Aboriginal history of the area.

He will focus on the legacy of leading Indigenous personalities such as Derrimut, and the places that were important to the Woiwurrung and Boonwurrung, including meeting places in St Kilda, Caulfield, and other Bayside Areas; the waterways and lagoons for food gathering, and the seasonal movements across these areas.

Professor Ian Clark has been researching and publishing Victorian Aboriginal history since 1982 and has a doctorate in Aboriginal historical geography.  Now based in Ballarat, he has been the manager of the Brambuk Aboriginal Cultural Centre in Halls Gap, and research fellow in history at the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies in Canberra.  Professor Clark recently took early retirement from Federation University Australia in Ballarat where he was a Professor of Tourism Management. He is currently a Professor (Research) in the Monash Indigenous Studies Centre, Monash University, Clayton, and Adjunct Professor at Federation University.
