Following the Society's Annual General Meeting, members enjoyed a talk by journalist and author Rachelle Unreich, whose memoir A Brilliant Life: My Mother's Inspiring Story of Surviving the Holocaust was shortlisted for The Age Book of the Year 2024.
Rachelle spoke about her connection to St Kilda and the local area, reflecting on her childhood in Sherwood Hall (formerly Rotherfield). Drawing on personal memories and family history, she shared how those experiences have influenced her life and writing.
Combining memoir, local history and personal reflection, the presentation offered members a glimpse into the stories and memories that have shaped Rachelle's connection to this part of Melbourne.
